ARIZONA ACTION ALERT

HELP GATHER SIGNATURES TO BAN COCKFIGHTING!

What is Cockfighting?

Cockfighting is a blood sport in which roosters are thrust into each other's face to anger them and then placed in a pit to fight to the death. The birds are often given drugs such as strychnine to make them more aggressive and harder to kill. Their natural spurs are replaced with razor-sharp steel blades measuring up to 3 ½ inches long. The metal weapons sink deep into the birds' flesh, so that the handlers may have to pull them apart several times in a single fight -- whenever one bird isn't strong enough to pull free. Hundreds of such fights are held in front of cheering spectators who often bring their children and wager large sums of money on the outcome.
